Sober Bloody Mary
Taste buds at the ready with this one as you can opt for spices, herbs and even vegetables. A conventional Bloody Mary is a cocktail containing vodka, tomato juice, and other spices and flavourings including Worcestershire sauce, hot sauces, garlic, herbs, horseradish, celery, olives, salt, black pepper, lemon juice, lime juice and/or celery salt.
But what about the Amateur, and a sober one at that? Well luckily, I am on hand to give you my recipe and also another variation if you are short of time or let’s be honest, cant be arsed! With Vodka marked as the enemy, I use Seedlip which is a great substitute. Here is my version and I am sure you will love it, unless you don’t like Tomato Juice of course…..
Ingredients:
50 ml Seedlip Spice
200 ml Tomato Juice
30 ml Lemon Juice
A few drops of Worcester sauce
A Few drops of Tabasco
Pinch of Salt & Pepper
Celery stick to serve and a slice of Lemon
Ice cubes
Method:
Just plough it all straight into mixer, give it a shake and pour over ice. Garnish with the Celery and a slice of Lemon and job is a proverbial good “un”. If you prefer a spicier taste then just add more Tabasco or Worcester Sauce and likewise if you are not a spice lover then just omit them altogether.
For a lazy alternative: There are some good spiced tomato juice drinks on the market so use this instead, pop in your Celery and Lemon, sneaky but good.
That’s the Sober Bloody Mary.
